Idiopathic hypersomnia

Definition
It is characterized by excessive daytime sleepiness, naps, nighttime sleep of long duration (12 hours or more) and sleep intoxication.
Symptoms
Some people have headaches (migraines), fainting, and hypotension, hallucinations at the beginning or end of sleep and sleep paralysis.
Causes
The cause is not known.
Diagnosis
It is a lifelong disorder with no tendency to spontaneous remission, with complications that are mostly social and occupational.
Treatments
It is essential to rule out all types of secondary and recurrent hypersomnia. Symptomatic treatment with stimulants (not very effective)
